Monday January 26, 2004 Its a
double presentation as INASLA and Southwark mayor exchange gifts
By Victor Sylver.
The office of the mayor of Southwark, Sierra
Leonean Dr Columba Blango was the scene today of a double
presentation of gifts. Mayor Blango, himself a member of INASLA, the
community development association dedicated to serving the interests
of all Sierra Leoneans abroad, presented a plaque to the
organisation for what he called "the noble idea of getting an
umbrella organisation that would work, communicate and liaise with
all groups dedicated to the cause of the Sierra Leonean abroad.
Mayor Blango praised the dedication of members in the effort to
sensitise others about the tasks facing INASLA. Receiving the
plaque, INASLA Chairman Micky Fofanah outlined the organisation's
aims and objectives, informing the mayor about achievements so far,
the tasks ahead and vision for an organisation that is strictly
non-political and is open to all Sierra Leoneans and friends of the
mother country and expressed the hope that Mayor Blango would
continue his immeasurable contributions towards the development and
expansion of the organisation. The INASLA Chairman also presented
Mayor Blango with copies of the new 2004 INASLA calendar and said
that the token gift was in appreciation of the support of Mayor
Blango.
